DESCRIPTION

Elena Walch's "Cardellino" Chardonnay is an elegant interpretation of the renowned grape variety in the alpine environment of Alto Adige. The name "Cardellino" (a songbird) reflects the company's harmonious and nature-respecting approach. Coming from well-exposed vineyards in the Adige Valley, this wine combines the typical freshness and minerality of the Alto Adige terroir with a softness and complexity obtained through careful wood aging. The result is a Chardonnay of great balance, finesse, and persistence, embodying the modern and elegant style of pioneer Elena Walch.

ORGANOLEPTIC CHARACTERISTICS

Color: Bright straw yellow, with golden reflections.
Aroma: Fresh, intense, and refined. Notes of white-fleshed fruit (peach, apple), citrus (grapefruit), white flowers (acacia), and delicate nuances of vanilla and toasted almond derived from wood.
Taste: Velvety, fresh, and well-structured. The attack is soft and enveloping, supported by a lively acidity that gives impetus and length. The palate reveals flavors of ripe fruit, light honey, and sweet spices, with a long, clean, and mineral finish.
Body: Medium-full, elegant, and harmonious.
Style: Fresh, elegant, complex, and of great finesse.

PRODUCTION AND AGING

Winemaking: Partial fermentation in barriques (tonneaux).
Aging: Approximately 10 months on fine lees in barriques (second and third passage), with periodic bâtonnage, to enrich the structure without weighing down the aromatic profile.
Area: Adige Valley, Alto Adige.

PAIRINGS AND OCCASIONS

Temperature: 10-12°C.
Glass: Large tulip glass for structured white wines.

Storage: Cool cellar 12-14°C, dark, controlled humidity, horizontal bottle. Once opened, with an airtight stopper, it can be kept in the refrigerator for 1-2 days.
