The company was founded in 1902 by Giacomo Tommasi, Piergiorgio's great-grandfather . Its expansion began in 1940, and the first Tommasi Amarone was produced in 1959. The new cellar was built in 1970, and the first exports began in 1972, primarily to the United States and Canada .
