The history of Col d'Orcia began in 1890 with the purchase of the Fattoria di Sant'Angelo in Colle by the Franceschi family. In 1958, Stefano Franceschi created the Col d'Orcia winery, which passed to the Marone Cinzano family in 1973. Under the leadership of Count Francesco Marone Cinzano, the estate focused on expanding its Brunello vineyards, introducing organic and biodynamic farming methods, and achieving international recognition for its wine, as demonstrated by the numerous awards it has received, including for its historic Brunello "Poggio al Vento."
